While some may think that the sex work industry is something that is oppressive toward women, and ultimately unproductive for society, some think otherwise. In my opinion, the sex work industry can ultimately be empowering (that is not to say that it can’t be oppressive, because it can be really oppressive and misogynistic at times).
Hot Girls Wanted is a documentary style film that follows young girls that have gotten involved in sex work, specifically the amateur porn industry. These girls are old enough, but many of their families think that they went off to do something else, and have no idea what their daughters have gotten involved in.
The film shows the side of the industry that might not be shown otherwise, like all of the girls in one house. Overall, I think the film does a good job of educating people on an industry that needs more light shed upon it. Many people have issues with sex work, and this movie tries to persuade the audience to see it as any other industry. The other side of it is that this might show a “sweeter” side of the industry that, truly, isn’t always the case.
While many criticize the sex work industry, Hot Girls Wanted displays the industry as something that is not necessarily always good, but it can be good. I think the film, more that anything, is about education about the sex work industry, rather than persuade anyone.
