Being a part of a family of 75% women (more if you count the cat), it was easy to grow up thinking women were the strongest people on the planet. Having also grown up in DC, the feminist movement is prevalent because we are so close to the central government.
Back to the fact that my family is mostly women. Growing up in a family like this is amazing. I learned that my voice matters, and among other things, my being a female should not and will not limit me. I grew up thinking my life and my body are some things to be respected.
Something you tend to learn as a young woman in today's world is that that is not always the same for other people. Some people genuinely think that a woman is inferior. A woman is anything but inferior. I am so lucky to know this. I was taught feminism by growing up in a nurturing environment.
