2016 might have some negative tones to it, but ultimately some great things happened during the year. The Queer Year Review will highlight some of the great things that happened in the feminist, LGBT+ sphere in 2016. So, without further ado, the Queer Year Review for 2016.
  1. Covergirl featured chose a man to be considered a Covergirl, and now he is doing commercials and is a brand ambassador. This is a great example of how queer people can be better represented.
  2. The amount of people coming out is an amazing thing. Despite recent political events, people this year have had amazing amounts of courage to truly be themselves.
With the tragedy of the Pulse nightclub shooting, much of the LGBT+ community came together to heal and become stronger.
Overall, the year 2016 has seen it’s ups and downs, but 2017 can be even stronger, and we can come together to make this the best year in LGBT+ history, in women’s history, and as our history as a whole.
