With the frenzy surrounding number 45’s tweets, and what he says during press conferences, there have been questions circulating on how much the president should censor what he publishes (if at all).
I'm here to play a little bit of the devil’s advocate. While some of what people say on the internet is something that can greatly affect people, I think trying to censor the media (coming from any voice) is counterintuitive in a time like this. Right now we need honest media, and honest media is different from person to person, depending on their view.
Free speech and censorship are of great importance because some media and news outlets are running out of money, and will soon enough run out of money to be able to publish what they need to. The news outlets and other outlets need just as much funding as any other art or social program, especially considering that the truth might not be as easily obtained nowadays.
So what is the important part of this argument? If you want to hear as much truth as possible, donate time, money, or resources to news outlets, and continue looking for fake news rather than immediately sharing.
