Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49-ers has managed to make the news a lot lately. And not for what we might think. Recently, Kaepernick has been making the news for not standing during the national anthem. Although he has come out to say it is not meant to offend, many fans and audience has managed to become offended.
Plenty of inane actions taken by athletes have been overlooked or even accepted, so why is taking a knee an action to be judged? My personal opinion is that he has every right in the world to do so. This country is no longer his, or for his people. He is part of a community of people that have been constantly oppressed in this country. For this, I think that Kaepernick's argument is 100% called for in a time that people of color (POC) are continually targeted and victimized.
